The Complete Rap

  • This series of classes provides support, education and guidance through your entire pregnancy journey alongside your obstetrician or public health care.

  • Support from pregnancy to the early days as new parents.

    These classes give you the opportunity to know your midwife through pregnancy and have the support already set up as new parents.

    Personalised birth, feeding and settling classes conducted through third trimester.

    Postnatal support in the early days with your newborn. You’ll have the opportunity to debrief with someone you know and feel supported with feeding and settling once home.

    Class 1: 10 -12 weeks

    • Meet the midwife

    • What model of care will I use. Private or public birth?

    • Supplements and antenatal screening tests

    • Food safety

    • Common concerns/symptoms

    • Influenza, pertussis, Pfizer vaccinations

    Class 2: 17 weeks

    • Diet and exercise

    • Fetal movements

    • Pelvic floor exercises

    • Taking care of yourself (dental health etc)

    Class 3: 24 weeks

    • Sleeping positions in pregnancy

    • Car seat

    • Baby tests and injections post birth

    • What will I need for my nursery

    Class 4: 28 weeks

    • Discussing screening: GDM screening, haemoglobin (Hb), red cell antibodies for all women, Vitamin D

    • Your birth and postnatal stay

    • Your previous experience of birth (if applicable)

    • Postnatal depression and anxiety

    • Importance of skin to skin post birth

    Class 5: 30 weeks

    • Active birth skills and caesarean birth workshop (3.5hrs)

    Class 6: 32 weeks

    • Safety, sleep and settling (3hrs)

    Class 7: 34 weeks

    • Breastfeeding workshop (2hrs)

    Class 8: 36 weeks

    • Birth plan. Do I need a GBS swab?

    • Support people during labour and birth

    • What to bring into the hospital

    • Postnatal care in the home

    • Expressing colostrum before the baby arrives

    Class 9: Post birth

    • Post birth consult (1hr)

    • Post birth debrief

    • Check where feeding is up to
